Style Question: Input requested

I have a '71z that I am rejuvenating. I really don't care for the drip

rails. My friend says that if I grind them off I would ruin the character

of the car. I think it would be an improvement.

I would like further input from the Z community.

I'll probably never drive in the rain anyway. Has anyone done/seen this.

Pics would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

PS. I fully anticipate getting flamed by some purists. I don't mind. I would appreciate any input

i remember a year or so back, reading on hybridZ.org that a few guys have done it....

you need to grind it off bit by bit, and rewelding the part were you took it off bit by bit, so take a bit off weld it up, etc etc

also they said it doesn't cause much trouble in the rain....

well thats what i remember, i might be wrong thou,

they showed pictures... and i couldn't really tell the differance that much,

At the 2000 Las Vegas show, I say a guy who had done the drip rail removel.......it looked very good. His Z is black with two white stripes running the length the car. Also, under the hood he has this big picture paint of a women or something....but you would definitely remember it if you saw the car. He had also seamed up around the headlight buckets which also looked very good. Each to his own I say!!!
