beandip Posted March 19, 2004 Author Share #14 Posted March 19, 2004 First of all , thank you , all of you for your responce it means alot to me and my family. She came through the operation fine and the Dr. said that he dident find any supprises. That can be taken either way . We really wont know much more untill the lab results to see how far things have gone. They said that the chances of this happening to someone so young is 1 in 20,000 . I know that they have been doing wonders with the treatment of canser and it is no longer an automatic death warrent . But never the less it's still hard on every one in both familys. Thank you all again Gary

TomoHawk Posted March 20, 2004 Share #19 Posted March 20, 2004 I can relate to what's going on. My head got clobbered when I was about her age, and I spent 4 months in the hospital, with everybody telling me, "You won't be able to do XXXX any more...." I spent 2 years in a wheelchair, and another year learning how to walk really bad; people at work( or just about anywhere) were afraid to have me there, and I ended up losing that job. Also had my fiancee run off because she couldn't handle the pressure of being engaged to a "handicapped guy." People expected her to quit everything to spend every minute helping me work my arm & fingers. You could say my life had ended or I lost evberything good about myself- talent ,smarts, & athletic ability. But I still got you Bozos "equal opprtunity annoyers" After 15 years, I walk fair, got some control over my arm, but still not my fingers- I get to drive automatics now. Best wishes from Tomo. tanny Posted March 20, 2004 Share #21 Posted March 20, 2004 Hi Gary, It has to be a sickening feeling when you hear the C word connected with one of your kids. You always think that these things happen to other people, not you or yours, like watching the news on TV. I wish these crummy diseases were only accessible through old age(of course no disease at all would be better) and that the young would be left alone to enjoy long and joyful lives. I hope she bears up well during this uncertain time and that any treatments are not too disruptive to her life. Fortunately the prognosis looks good, so there's room for optimism. A ton of good fortune for your daughter, you, and the rest of your family. Victor.
