Posted March 21, 200420 yr comment_73606 Hi Everyone. If I don't start my car and let it run every day the car will not start. I left for palm spring on Friday and came back today, Sunday and the car will not start. I just had it running Friday. I had a very powerful sound system installed recently and I don't remember this happening before the sound system was installed. Could the sound system be draining down the battery even when its not on? Do I need a new battery? Do I take it back to the place where I got the sound system installed? Please help. Thank You. March 21, 200420 yr comment_73609 If the batt goes dead since the alarm systime was installed and it was ok before , by all means take it back . Something is connected wrong. The systime on stand buy for only a few days shouldent effect the battery hardly at all. March 21, 200420 yr comment_73643 The sound system could definately be draining power. I had installed a system in my car recently and was driving one night with the headlights, heater and system going and the car almost died.I had this problem before with a thermo fan kit in a Z and knew what was going on. Luckily I found out the belt to my alternator was just too slack and obviously slipping so i tightened her up and no problems since. These alternators are not the best they only crank out like 60amps.It would be a good idea to upgrade to an internally regulating alternator from a ZX. The ZX had all the power options so it's alternator produces more amps and shouldn't have any problems handling the extra power demands.Gav. March 22, 200420 yr comment_73718 The Stereo is not hooked up right. Take it back and stand around the car while they check it out. This pissed of customer bit goes a lot further than the the cool calm collected sap that doesn't look because he has NO idea what's really going. They don't really know if you do or don't. If you act like the sap they''ll treat you like one. Hence shity work. The amp(s) are left on draining the juice even if the car is of. Being that they hook up high powered amps directly to the Battery's Positive terminal. If the remote turn on lead isn't hook up to the radio, and instead to another device or another amp(s) . Or the hook up to the Z's wiring is not the best manner in which to run what you got hooked up a ground loop could keep components on that you do not see like the radio's face ( big and bright and obvious). Don't get it fixed, scare them by telling them that you are going to reort them to the Better business bureau. :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10856-240z-battery/#findComment-73718 Share on other sites
