Ok, My question is, can i make 200hp with the stock engine with mostly boltons(header, cold air intake, ignition, and fuel system) and still have a reliable engine? relisically though, 200hp is enough. I just want to smoke the doors off v8's once in a while.

Thanks, Tom

Yes you can. With money anything is possible. I've heard of that kind of HP output with a few bolt on's, and head work. Search through these forums and you will find that this topic has been discussed quite frequently. There is also a few engine builders out there that can do the work for you.

Good luck.

If you are starting with an L-24, 200hp is gonna cost a bundle.

If you are starting with an L-28, it's gonna cost you a lot less as you will be starting with an extra 20hp to begin with. Much less money involved in a 200hp build up on an L-28.

Yes you get 200 hp with bolt ons.

It all depends what head and cam and type of pistons you have.

Also what type of fuel system. Side draft or fuel injection etc.

The limit to bolt ons is relative to $$$$.

Get an E31 done right and your looking at $2K

Mikuni side drafts $1800.0

Ignition $300.00

Header - Nissan comp $600.00

And so on and so on.

If your going to start spending coin you might as do it right and rebuild the whole engine.

I just built entry level race engine. Around 250hp cost $5K

I had short block built by Coquitlam automotive and I assembled the rest.

Chris,

Fellow Vancouverite

cost isnt going to be a factor because it is going to be done over a long period of time. It will probably take me 2 years to do a top qualits bare metal restoration. So, ill get stuff as i go along.

thanks for the info guys. Or maybe i should pend the extra cash and do a sr swap. i guess i have a while to decide.
