zaka Posted March 23, 2004 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2004 OK ive got a 240z lined up, ready to buy it, just a few questions:Ok the car has the L26 motor in it, r these motors reliable???
seerex Posted March 23, 2004 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2004 the basic diffrence in the 240 /260 and 280 motors is size in liters the 240 being 2.4 liters and so on , but the carbs are key on the motors the best being the 4 screw round tops su's and the 3 screw round top su's basicly the same , the 260 and 73 240 had a flat top hitachi which are not recommended , or you had the 280z fuel injection which has its pros as well , some people prefer the su's and some prefer the FI but as far as the basic block set it its mainly size , good luck , check for the cancer all over the car , floor pans rails and under the battery tray , also under the hatch ,
sjcurtis Posted March 23, 2004 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2004 zaka, hi, welcome to the site, people here will be able to help with virtually any questions you may have.Does the body number start off HS30- or S30- or even RS30-, hopefully it is the first one. telling you it is an export right hand drive 240z. do you have a compliance plate fitted. if so it was delivered at the date on it in AUS. If you can tell me things like body number and engine number on the manufacturers data plate I should be able to tell you the age.are you really in SYDNEY area or outside in the country, I am up near Newcastle and if your close enough maybe I could help you to check it over sometimes it may save you or at least let you know what you getting into.let us knowcheersSteve
