Posted March 25, 200420 yr comment_74171 Am planning on replacing the fusible links with a gold platedfuse block, on my 75-280, California model Z. I only have 1 fusible link box, located on the relay bracket. It contains 2 links, 1 green labeled Ign, and 1 black labeledbatt. Underneath this box, is a metal box, 2" x 2" x 6" and itcontains a copper strip, shaped like a "m", and 2 glassfuses. 2 large gauge wires ( 8ga maybe ) one white andone white/red connect to the large metal strip, and 2light gauge wires, same colors, connect to the 2 glassfuses. My question is : is this unit the fuse for the chargingsystem ? Thus can be replace by 60 amp fuse.FSM shows 2 normal fusible link boxes, but this metalbox appears original, connects to harness ,etc. Voltage regulator is mounted underneath this relaybracket, and car has no A/C, so its not some relay. March 25, 200420 yr comment_74185 That is the shunt that is used for the ampmeter. Leave it be least the gods of darkness will prevale! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10917-identify-this-part/#findComment-74185 Share on other sites
March 25, 200420 yr comment_74216 I believe that the 75-76 had one fusible link box and an external regulator, and the 77-78 had two fusible link boxes and an internal regulator. March 25, 200420 yr comment_74293 I should have added that the fuses in the box are part of the charging circuit. The ampmeter works by sensing the drop in currnt between the shunt [which is the M that you mention].
