Posted March 28, 200421 yr comment_74667 Hmm, claims it only has 4484 miles, yet the block isn't the original color.... carbs not original, hacked up air cleaner. 280 seat covers.... those must have been 4484 hard miles or someone didn't like their tail sweating... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470423486&category=6187 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10981-another-one-to-avoid/ Share on other sites
March 28, 200421 yr comment_74670 Not to mention the paint is faded. Seats don't look original.More like 104000 or maybe 204000 miles. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10981-another-one-to-avoid/#findComment-74670 Share on other sites
March 29, 200421 yr comment_74693 The dashboard in 'very good condition 9.5 out of 10' has a cap on it. If it 'sat inside for over 30 years' that would pretty much cover it's entire life. Why the repaint? 'Found in the basement of my uncles house'. Every basement I have ever seen had no way to drive a car into it! March 29, 200421 yr comment_74763 Too funny! I was thinking the same thoughts as I read the description of the car. He should be getting some hate mail from some of those bidders for false advertising.Funny thing about that car is if he just let the pictures "sell" the car without making up some story about it he might be pleasantly surprised as there can't be many 240Z's left in Connecticut? Notice there aren't any pics of the floors or floor supports? March 29, 200421 yr comment_74765 I sent the seller these questions: "Since when does an automatic transmission have a manual shift lever and a clutch pedal? What happened to the original radio? It's missing." And here's his reply: "I don't like the way you ask questions, somewhere along the way somebody forgot to teach you communications skills........." I get the feeling he's getting alot of heat from people who are onto him. You'd think he would wise up after listing the car so many times without a sale. March 29, 200421 yr Author comment_74766 I was going to ask him why the engine had been out of the car with only 4400+ miles and the block re-painted, then I realized it would be a total waste of time..... The red FRP car. Sure sounds like his atitude. (I also emailed him) We're talking about the one that has 'been sitting in a basement for over 30 years'. March 30, 200421 yr comment_74788 There are a lot of houses around here where the garage is in the basement. Most of them are older however, before people discovered that carbon monoxide was a bad thing...But I agree, that thing looks like it has been used way more than 4k miles.By the way, what was the original color of the engine on a Z? Some of the parts on mine were a blue color, and the closest match that I could find in engine paint at Walmart was GM corporate blue. Am I way off on the color?(Not that I am likely to hurt myself if I am you understand...) March 30, 200421 yr Author comment_74792 It's not far from the GM blue...guess it's somewhere in between a blue and turquoise.Classic Datsun Motorsports has the correct color in spray cans if you want the original color. March 30, 200421 yr comment_74831 2ManyZ's and Walter,I have been buying engine paint from Mike McGinnis at Banzai Motorworks for about 6 years now and I have painted a couple of my engine blocks and the color is spot on. After several conversations I have been able to extract that the color is very close to an Alfa light blue color. If you need further description let me know and I can copy whatever information is on the paint can if that would help. March 30, 200421 yr comment_74841 I bet that car reeks of mildew. Aren't basements very damp? I would think (if the guy is telling the truth) that half the reason why that car looks so "used" is because it's been sitting in a dark, damp basement for 30 years. Perfect for breeding the rust bugs. Who the hell knows what else has lived in that car.
