Fuel for your 240K

Recommended Posts

I know this has been posted a lot of times in the forum but just want to ask you guys which fuel you guys are using?

I know you're supposed to run lead replacement if you have stock (brass) valve seats but i know that this fuel is very crap used to be good when theres lead on them but I've heard that you can use UNLEADED even you got stock seats but not for a long period of time. How much is it to replace the seats to steel ones?

Razor,

Rather than going through the process of changing seats, get yourself an R30 E88 cast head.

Chamber volume is 41cc (small/good for C/R), has 42mm inlet valves (bigger than stock 38mm 240K type) plus you have the advantage of steel seats.

Straight bolt on, head gasket costs $25.00~, exhaust manifold gasket $20.00~, R30 head $100~ from wreckers (be sure you check for damage/warpage before taking away. Bring with you a good sturdy straight edge to check for straightness, if it's too much out of whack no amont of shaving will true it up.

All in all this will be cheaper than modifying your existing head, and since you're contemplating removing the head anyway, it's a bonus!

I think you mean 98 octane but I'm not a fuel expert I just know optimax has had a few good and bad point mentioned in the past.

I've noticed my car has felt alot nicer to drive on Mobil Synnergy in the past.

Give both a try see what you think.

i thought both shell lrp and optimax was 98 octane?

are there other significant improvements in getting the e88 head over the stock head? because i have a stock head but i wouldnt rush into changing it just for the fuel problem...

Well, I've fallen into disgrace and in-advertantly purpetuated a mis-truth that was circulated by others on another list.

After carefully checking the Shell site I can positively state that I was wrong!

Optimax is 98 Octane

LRP is 96.3

Racing is 107

and

CAMS A3 [V8 supercar control fuel] is 98.

I can't wait until the question shows up again on the other list!

As for the head, I couldn't see any advantage, but I was wrong before so I'm probably wrong now!
