Wow, Painting is a hassle!.(HELP)

Hey guys, so i have now decided to start using a 40 grit on a grinder to strip the paint off, insted of the soft cork attachment. (is this ok?) So how the hell do i remove the paint thats between the door and the windshield? you know, that little area.

Undo the four screws holding the wiper valance on. It should slide forward up and out. You should be able to get to that area from there.

I wouldnt recommend using 40 grit on any body panels, let alone the thin steel of a Z, those seemingly fine scratches it leaves will involve heaps of hi build primer and fine rubbing back to remove from the top coat. I'd hesitate to use 80 grit on a random orbital sander, let alone an angle grinder. Maybe try using a chemical stripping agent and a flat scraper with the corners ground off?

40 grit is too much. I'd start with a 120 and that would be just to remove the however many coats of paint there are. Then when the primer starts to show switch to 220 grit to smooth it out. There is nothing wrong with leaving some of the factory primer on there especially if the metal underneath is clean.

So, is using chemical stripper better? is it pricey?

Use the chemical stripper on your larger pannels. Make sure you read the directions completely. Neutralizing is just as important as using. I don't like it because it can get into those nooks and crannys then you never know if you got it all out.
