Geez, it's starting to sound like ZCAR around here. Did they start screening membership or something? Do we need to start? Are we too big? We've got a kid with a Honda trying to sell us photoshopped Eclipses and someone else posting polls based on what he read in the classifieds this morning. Meanwhile, I have a good friend, intelligent, dedicated Z owner and VP of one of the biggest Z clubs in the US sitting at home, not able to post while his memberhship is approved.

I WANT MY 240z.org BACK!!!!!

sorry...

steve

The answers to your questions are YES. But, I am doing my best to keep control of the site because ** I DO NOT WANT THIS SITE TO BECOME OUT OF CONTROL **....

I have been more strict on posts lately and I'm sure there are a few of you out there who have noticed.

By doing this, it is my HOPE that we will continue to be an easy to use Classic Zcar related site. If we fail at that primary goal, we will become another "out of control" website with a lot of crap coming through the forums.

My biggest rule, as most of the mailing list members know, is to keep all content "Z related"... Now, I don't mind a tasteful joke every now and then, and hell, I've been known to post a few jokes/pictures myself. But, 95% of this site should remain "Z related."

As far as membership, I don't know how to help the poor AOL users. For some reason, our activation emails are not getting through due to an increased amount of security at AOL. The latest trojan viruses hit hard and I think AOL (along with many other email providers) have limited incoming email.

Steve, please tell your friend to send me an email directly (webmaster@classicZcars.com) and I'll approve his account. This has been a burden on me lately and I probably need to submit some kind of "How-To" document for AOL users. Perhaps you can help with this? I know you had troubles at AOL at one time.

Anyway, I am still here keeping an eye on things. We also have volunteers helping with the site content as well. 2ManyZ's has been a huge help in this area. But, both of us still can't watch all posts all the time. So, this is where we need help. As we become bigger we'll have to work together to keep our club going in the right direction. If you see something getting out of hand, please send me a PM. I'll do what I can to keep us on topic.

Z-Content or die. :D

By the way, I am also working on a newly developed site that will give us a lot of new features and will fix many of the little bugs you've been putting up with lately.

I'll keep you posted on the progress. We'll need to do a lot of 'testing' before the site is launched and most of you can help me with that.

The new system also gives administrators better control over content and will make it easier for moderators to help keep things clean as well.

My only problem is convincing my plethora of girlfriends that I need to work on the site rather than giving them my undivided attention. ROFL

I think some of the flamming is brought on by the intense passion we have for our Z cars. No one likes to be told by some "outsider" that "We're just jealous" because we don't have what they have. Most of us could afford those things but we choose to worship and take pride in one of the most important cars in automotive history, the 240Z. Though I find some of the comments a little harsh, I do however understand how some of you guys feel. I thought it was funny because it seemed as soon as the guy mentioned "350Z" we all put up our fists, no?

Rage on!

Something for all of you to notice.... maybe it's just me, but, this is what I notice about our site:

When you first log in, scroll to the bottom of the main page. In the center box you will see all of the latest posts. Inside that box, take a quick poll of what you see. Focus your attention on the quantity of Z-related posts versus non-Z-related posts. Most of the time I count 48 of 50 messages as actual "Z-content"....

*THIS* is what we are proud of.

If we have to crack a few heads to keep our site focused on a goal, then so be it. Not everybody will agree with this method, but, I'm proud of our site for that reason.

Sure, we'll have a few pains along the way. But, I'm sure that most people want to come to a Zcar site to talk about the Zcar.
