Geez, it's starting to sound like ZCAR around here. Did they start screening membership or something? Do we need to start? Are we too big? We've got a kid with a Honda trying to sell us photoshopped Eclipses and someone else posting polls based on what he read in the classifieds this morning. Meanwhile, I have a good friend, intelligent, dedicated Z owner and VP of one of the biggest Z clubs in the US sitting at home, not able to post while his memberhship is approved.

I WANT MY 240z.org BACK!!!!!

sorry...

steve

Yeah, we've got a lot of little "growing pains" that need to be solved.

I'm usually on here a couple hours or more a day, usually just keeping up with all the new posts and reading replies, but sometimes a few slip past. I read probably 90% of all the posts, but there will be a few that get past. Everyone could help make sure nothing is missed if you report the post whenever you question the direction the thread is heading.

I've come up with a couple ideas that should solve nearly all the problems and with Mike's approval I think we can come up with a solution that will help keep things running smoothly and stop some of the things that have gone wrong in the past. If Mike can incorporate them into whatever it is he's working on, I think things will be even better than before.

Bill--

You're OK, but I tyhink you might want to look into the function of your SHIFT keys. Maybe the dot key too. ;)

Otherwise, for all the rest of us, there's always the "Report this post to a moderator " link if you think something isn't right.

Judging from your spelling and punctuation, you may want to consider another home in which to be schooled. LOL

We need a point system like the DMV. Or, actually, the opposite of DMV. Unlimited access is 100 points. Each post is a point. If you do not own a Z or are under 18, you start at 0 and are only allowed 1 point per day. If you own a Z you are allowed 2 points per day. Each Z you own equals 50 points. ANY moderator alertion or activity during this period--EVEN IF THE MODERATOR DECIDES NOT TO DELETE POSTS--equals return to 0. Hey, it's only 100 days! The point of this is to 'impress' upon newbs the 'flow and gist' of this site. They need to understand we are a fambly.

Better watch yourself Steve. This kind of talk is what got my account disabled and ultimately left it in the crippled state it's in today.

Funny thing is all the guys who jumped all over me saying that they don't want to restrict content on the site have suddenly flip-flopped and decided that the site needs more control by Der Fuhrer. What a joke...

Michael, I am disappointed you feel this way. You were only placed on suspension for a cool down period of a week. After the week was up, and a very nice apology (which is not required by the way), your account was re-enabled.

If you remember correctly, there was a huge fiasco a few months ago about a few inappropriate Michael Jackson pictures, some ZX content, some new members asking questions, and you were involved with slamming us in a public forum.

I normally put people on a cool down period like that to keep the flame wars to a minimum. This was done to a few other people and it's not a fun thing for me to do at all. In fact, I hate doing it because I want to spend my time doing other 'creative' things like developing "Classic Zcar Club Version 3"....

I'm just at a loss as to how I can keep everybody happy in these kinds of situations. For instance, do I put my 'flamers' on suspension while they cool down and continue to maintain a dignified site? Or, do I allow the flamers to rant and rave about something we don't even need and risk losing five other members because we've "gone south?"

Steve's reason for posting this thread is valid. Have we gone south? Would we go even further south if we weren't here to control the content? I don't know. But, I will stand by the rules we created back in 1994. Z Content.... No Flaming...... I'll take a look to see if I can find something with the old rules we created 10 years ago.

Taking this for example, I'm not trying to control what anybody says. I'm only trying to keep our site focused on our goal (and to make people feel welcome). Just ask some of the 240z mailing list members how I can be.....

That's ok Bill, Bambi needs lessons in a lot more things than just spelling. ROFL

Just playin' Bambi...

So, teach me all you know, Obewan. I've got a spare 5 minutes. LOL

Me too, Mikey. :D

PS: Hate to have to point this out, but.... As for the 240 Mail list, the people on the Digest form of the list aren't made to feel welcome, we have to put up with the tons of HTML crap garbage, and have done so for years because no one enforces the "plain text" requirement that is clearly stated. And guess who is one of the most consistant HTML offenders?

First off my apology was not for my activities in the forums - it was ONLY for my slanderous comments I made in the shout box (calling you an a$$hole or something like that). I don't apologize for any of my past forum activities and I know I don't need to. I've come to realize that you have a very difficult time discerning flaming or "slamming" as you're now calling it from heated debate. It's sad really that the admin of a forum this size can't see the difference. And also if YOU would remember correctly, I had nothing to do with any Michael Jackson pictures, and I don't know what you're talking about regarding "new members asking questions".

And lastly, you can take this disappointment of yours and shove it. I don't owe anything to you or this site and it's pretty stupid to <b>expect</b> anything from site members, especially the ones you treat like crap by disabling accounts, reducing account functionality, deleting posts, <b>editing</b> posts, publicly posting false statements about (see above), etc, all of which you've done to me.

/thread to be removed and/or account lock-up in 3.....2.....1....

Now I know I don’t have 2000 posts or anything, but there is nothing wrong with this site from what I’ve seen. It’s the whole”few bad apples deal” causing the non z related issues and problems. This is still by far the most helpful and informative site I know of for z knowledge and that’s what it’s all about. If you don’t like what’s being written here then simply avoid the site. With the amount of dimwitted half breeds on the net today (no specific reference intended so DON”T take it that way) it can’t be easy to monitor this site and make decisions that please everyone’s specific personality and personal opinions. To all who are involved with maintaining this site, thanks and keep up the good work!
