Ok,

I just got the collar I forgot for the mallory distributor that I have. I thought I would just warm up the car, so I could skip some of the cold tunning ambiguities, and install it. WELL I tried to unscrew the screws to the collar and the first one was a little tight so i thought maybe it was just shifted and needed the other one... Baisically I snapped both the screws about half an inch down from the head of the screw... Good news is that I got the collar off and there is about 1.5 of an inch sticking out of thread. I decided to let the block cool off ( I hope that was the reason...) and then try again later....

Anyone know how to get these scews out without the head on them ??? I have a 1.5 inches of thread to work with...

I thought maybe I could find a nut that fit and then give her a little tack weld then unscrew them... ( this may just be because I want to use the welder in some way...) But my mistakes have disqualified me from any decision...

Pentrating Oil, lots of Penetrating Oil. Sili-Kroil, P-B Blaster, Tri-Flow, anything except WD-40

Put two nuts on the remaining portion of the bolt. Lock them together and use your wrench on the bottom (lower) nut to CAREFULLY back it out. Don't thread the nuts down the bolt too far, in case you shear the bolt again you'll have some threads left to try another method

Luckily I cracked them when i broke them.

I got them out with some ice and soem pliers... they came out easy... I will remember that for future applications....

Put some ANTI-SEIZE on the new bolts before you install them.

Nothing "wrong" with it. Just that the other products mentioned are far superior as penetrating oils. IMHO.

dont use wd-40 on guns and reels either. On gun actions & reels it turns to gum over time. It displaces water great but will not protect metal from rust vary well and is just so so for a lube. Another thing it is good for , as a replacement for starting fluid for a hard starting engine. Just spray some in the intake giving about a 5 sec. spray and start the engine . Here is Oregon fisherman spray the bate with it for Salmon , no kidding. As was stated before there are far better products for penitrating oil. I think KROIL is the best and PB blaster is a close secound, it is just the smell of the blaster is so strong and it stinks.

Kroil (or Sili-Kroil) gets my highest reccomendation also. The Sili-Kroil version has (obviously?) Silcone as an additional ingrediant and works minor miracles.

The stink of PB Blaster gets to me also
