echocluster Posted April 13, 2004 Author Share #13 Posted April 13, 2004 ok so it turns out that the distributor has been changed. i got a cap and rotor for my z but the cap they gave me was the wrong one or so i thought. i didnt have time to go and get a new one so just used the new rotor and old cap. that is were the worst running z award comes from. i have a electronic dist. out of something else. that is why the caps are different. any idea what this distributer came from?:stupid: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

LanceM Posted April 13, 2004 Share #15 Posted April 13, 2004 If it has a module on the side of the distributor it probably came from an 80-81 280zx, no module on the distributor but it is electronic (no points) then it is from a 78-79 I think??? ChrisA Posted April 13, 2004 Share #16 Posted April 13, 2004 240Z distributors used points. 280Z dizzy's were electronic and the caps are bigger. Is your dizzy points or electronic? Is your new cap bigger or why do you think its wrong? There is a part number stamped in the body of the dizzy, find it and tell us and we'll tell you exactly what dizzy you have.
