Odd, That doesn't make sense. What kind of manual do you have?? All L6 (at least in Z cars) hae the it the same. Firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4.The pic I attached previously has numbers on the plug wires at the distributor cap to indicate which spark plug each wire goes to.You got them attached to the right plugs now, don't you? ChrisA Posted April 14, 2004 Share #28 Posted April 14, 2004 Your pictures look to me like you have the 1979 to July of 1981 280ZX distributor with the two terminal E12-80 module on the side. This is a good distributor when working correctly. Are you getting coil wire spark? Carl's picture of spark plug wiring is how your plug wires should be. Did the car run well before you started tinkering? Keep us informed, we'll help as much as we can. Chris
echocluster Posted April 14, 2004 Author Share #29 Posted April 14, 2004 well i took it for a ride last night, and i adjusted the idol. it seems to be back to normal. it was not running right when i started tinkering. i think what was that problem was, when i accelerated coolant would come out the return line and squirt right on the distributor cap. well i fixed that hose, and started working on a tune up. and that is where i put the plugs wrong and had the wrong rotor on for that cap. so now when i go back to auto parts store i tell them to get me a 79 - 81 cap instead? i dont know if i am going to bother anyway beacuse i will be changing motors soon . tks for all your help
LanceM Posted April 14, 2004 Share #30 Posted April 14, 2004 Yep, that's a 280zx dizzy, so 81 would work for sure as that is what I got mine out of .
