Hello,

I was going through the R200 I just picked up at the local pick n pull. I was supprised to see the damage to the casing caused by the cross pin. This rear end had 150K miles on it and came from a '80 280ZX, 3.90. Is this normal wear or is there a problem?

Thanks for your help. Skip

There's a few things that could have caused it, but no matter what caused it, that center section is now junk.:ermm:

Could have been low lube that caused the spider gear or gears to overheat, improper assembly on a rebuild, or bad side carrier bearings. Hard to tell with just that pic, you'll need to completely disassemble the rear to find out.

The ring gear looks to be in fair shape (at least what is visible)considering....:ermm:
