Need "Red" Seatbelts (of course)

Hi guys

I need to replace the gray seat-belts in the '77 280Z. Of course they MUST be red! Did Datsun ever have red seat-belts in any of their early Z's. If not, do you think that dyeing is an option? If they are available should I give Mid-West Z a call?

Hi Vicky!

I believe seatbelts came factory original in any color you wanted as long as it was black. The answer to your question, though, lies in the depths of seatbelt restoration and color change heaven http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/

I just sent my belts off to them along with reproduction Federal ID lables to be sewn on the new strapping. When I talked to them, they were real hesitant about restoring the retractors, but that isn't an issue with mine. They duplicate the stiching and can probably find something in red to match your outfit.

That's how faded our seat-belts are, they're gray which actually matches the dash and the other grays in the car. I really think red would look nice or maybe even a wine color to match the carpet. Scott will have the final say..........his car...........his "other woman"LOL

I can't seem to find an interior pic that shows the seatbelts, but didn't the ZX's have color coordinated seatbelts? Seems you ought to be able to make them work, of course, finding a set in red might be the hardest part. I know they had a red interior in the ZX's, but it probably wasn't the most popular color.

I know the 1980 ZX Anniversary Edition came in black and gold and I believe they offered a rare red and black/silver?. I bet that car had red seat belts. But do I want a ZX part in my Z? (just kidding). I think I will settle for the dye option.
