lordbiotree Posted April 29, 2004 Author Share #13 Posted April 29, 2004 Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the writer is NUTS. Hyundai is the same a KIA. There all Junk. Here in the us Toyota's hold a higher value than Honda's Then it's Nissan. Somewhere in the 4-5 spot there's an American made brand. -Brandon
CCC77 Posted April 29, 2004 Share #14 Posted April 29, 2004 I still would not buy one. Yes the may have improved greatly, but their resall value still stinks. Yes I have had my fair share of problems with my Z's but look how old they are. If I owned one when it was new the only problem I would have had is a burnt out clutch. I have owened a Maxima and the only thing I ever had done on it was oil changes. Same thing with a Honda that I owned since new. Its still not a Z is an understatement. Bambikiller240 Posted April 29, 2004 Share #16 Posted April 29, 2004 I have never owned or driven a Hyundai, but I have noticed that the cars come with a WARRANTY that is arguably one of the best available in the US. Interesting that the manufacturer now stands behind their cars in this manner.I do know people who previously owned a Hyundai in the 90's and the car was indeed a CRAP car, but sometimes companies do change (usually when they are forced to do so). Remember, the report is about new cars (2004), not 95's, 99's, 01's, or even 03's. Perhaps this company has seen the light and realizes what it needs to do to be successful in the US market. JD Power & Assoc. seems think things have changed. For anyone who is interested in the report referenced at the start of the thread it can be found HERE on the JD Power website. Of course, some of you may have access to more data than JD Power was able to gather on NEW Hyundai cars.
77 Z Posted May 2, 2004 Share #17 Posted May 2, 2004 I have owned two Hyundai Elantras..the current one a 2001 Elantra is a much improved vehicle over the first one which was a 1996..both purchased new from the dealer. The 2001 is a much improved version of the 96 ...does nicely on trips around 33 mph and 27-28 in town...my wife really likes it as well..easy car to see out of and very easy to drive..77 Z
