Aloha,

Well, I think the best gas I can get down here, if I want to pay for it, is 103? or 105? Something like that. They sell it at one 76 station and its like $6.50/gal. Good stuff...but...ouch.

Here's a suprise for some of you, here in Hawaii our state government is going to put gasoline price caps into effect. They are going to take the national average and then compare the cost of delivery to Hawaii, cost of living for citizens, etc. etc. and come up with some formula that will produce a magic number they will give to gas station owners and say, "bah...here you go...you lolo."

I don't know if price-caps are the way to go, but in a state where Chevron owns the only refinery and has actually been sued by the state for price-fixing...maybe its not a bad idea.

I think its just a supply and demand thing here in Hawaii. We only have one refinery for the entire state, but I don't think another will be allowed to be built because of environmental laws. Hmmm...convenient for Chevron...

Joel

PS - ElaineZ, the ... effects of the economy on the locals here really doesn't have anything to do with Z's. But, it does effect the way you perceive "paradise."

That's for the real stuff; gasolhol (that I don't use in the Z, but is very prevalent around here) is a couple pennies cheaper.

I lied. When I left work today, premium was $2.14

I paid 2. 15 for the Super Duper Premimium stuff, and 1.88 for the 87 Octane-- Montana and Idaho prices. They tell us that its so high here cause they have to bring it over the mountains! I dont go into deep discussions about it ...LOL!

Hey, Joel...sorry but you lost me! Count me blonde ....LOL! You see, I moved from Florida to submit myself to subzero temps, and blizzards...What IS paradise??? Me and my Zel cruizing....no matter where... Cant get any better than that...

We have premium (93 octane) at any gas station. Gas has not hit $2.00 a gallon here.........yet. You can get higher octane or racing fuels in just about every city here in Florida. Nice tropical paradise and it never snows. We have some nice flat, curvy roads for that 100+ ride. Car shows every weekend and cruise nites every night of the week somewhere local.

Down side... all the blue hairs in their Crown Vics, but you can just blow by them in your Z.

Oh yeah, "welcome" to all the new memberz!!
