May 6, 200420 yr comment_79875 Biggest problem I had was cracking the paint in a few places because depending on how far you go, it can be a tight bend.I was at a disadvantage because my car had a bad respray before I got it, over the existing coat of paint with virtually no perparation, so there were bits cracking and peeling off when I started. That is why I had no hesitation about rolling the guards. New paint should be fairly flexible though. I had two paint jobs, one of which is EXTREMLY thick and I only cracked one spot on one side.Professionals will do it fairly cheaply too.Scott Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11507-widest-wheels-and-tires/?&page=2#findComment-79875 Share on other sites

May 6, 200420 yr comment_79946 Thanks for the good information. In the next week or two I will finally install the Epsilon mesh wheels on the '78 280Z. The fronts are 16x7 w/ p225/50/16 and the rears are 16x8 w/ p245/45/16. The car has been lowered with a set of Tokico springs and Tokico Illuminas front and rear. With the offset that these wheels possess and some trial fitting with the wheel and a tape measure it should all work even at full suspension compression although, the Tokico setup doesn't allow for much of that at all. Steering this rig at parking lot speeds is going to take a bit of practice and thank goodness the shorter steering knuckles weren't installed. The '81 280ZX is a good practice car since it currently wears a set of 16" mesh wheels with Michelin Pilots p225/50/vr16 and the car has no power steering so it should be close to what the '78 will feel like. May 6, 200420 yr comment_79954 I'm running 16 X 7 Enkei rims with 225 50 series tires. Stock suspension, no spacers ... I have wheel flares, but underneath are the original wheel wells (untouched). May 6, 200420 yr comment_79966 Richard, Those wheels look great! Now if only they would go back into production with that style of rim again!
