Hrm, Im Confused, '77 with 260z body style? I'm still a Z Noob but, I thought the only difference in the bodys was the bumbers between the 260z and 280z, (i.e. early and late 260, and didn't the 77 and 78 get a slightly modded bumber?) aside from that what would you be referring to?

I know you said its complicated, (sorry) but im intrigued now! :bunny:

not to waste your time, but could you explain it? was it just more options available in japan?

SiGNAL Z,

What's the VIN prefix on your car? Is it "GS30" or "GS31"?

If it was built in 1977 it should be an S31, and the 2/2 version had the "G" prefix on the VIN code.

You might find that your paint code is 307.

mperdue,

I have looked at you chart and I am wondering if maybe some of the info from www.zhome is wrong. I gave my autobody guy the Datsun paint code 216 and he came up with white. As well this web page lists 215 as white but from 84 to 97. http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/f.../car_detail.cfm

My car also looks like it was painter metalic red at one point, but I dont think that was factory. Interesting topic.

Hey CCC,

Yeah I think we went over some of this in a recent thread. I should really gather the "evidence" up and see if I can make any sense of it. Im' not sure of the best way to research this kind of stuff besides going through the info on the web. I sure as hell can't afford anymore Z books and we all know how much info in many of those are crap anyway. Thanks for the tip
