Listed as a 1970, obviously not

Seems I've seen this car for sale before -- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2477498052&category=6187

It's listed as a 1970, but obviously it isn't because it has the pillar vents. Like the last time it was listed I thought about contacting the seller and explaining this to him -- just didn't want to see one of those "don't contact me with advice or opinions" type comments added to his auction. Oh well, Caveat Emptor. Gary

Yes, this seems fishy. The VIN would indicate an early '70 but the pillar vents....

He doesn't seem to know a whole lot about these seeing as how he states that the hood if from a later 240Z with the vents...that's a 280Z hood; could just be a typo.

Hasn't anybody replaced their rear quarter panels before??I'ts probably just as described, a 1970 240z, with "series 2" quarters to repair some damage.

My "series 2" 1972 has a "series 1" quarter, so does that not mean its a 1972 anymore:stupid:

Just means the person who repaired it wasn't savvy enough, or didn't care enough to use the proper (year specific) part in the repair. When repairing a collectable car, it should be apparent that using the correct parts is important if value, and originality is to be maintained

People who know, know

People who don't care, don't care

It's the sellers problem, and he shouldn't whine because people can tell correct repairs from incorrect repairs. From the description of the parts he has, and the engine he planned to install, I doubt the seller cared at all what he bought.

Mr Camouflage, You may be right, I guess I never dreamed of repairing a Series I, with Series II quarter panels -- but anything's possible as the combination on your car proves. I wish I had your Series I repair panel and you could have both of the rear quarters off my '72 parts car (altho they've had some past work done on them) -- heck you could have all that's left of the car. ROFL. Maybe even the parts I took off (It was more of a learning experience, and I hated to crush anything I could unscrew or unbolt). My garage is starting to look like a parts store. Soon, I hate to say, what's left goes to the crusher.

I guess they got whatever parts were available.

Mine has been repaired, then re-damaged again, so its not in the best shape.

What are the doglegs like in your parts car? I'm after some. Mine have rusted out. Also on my wish list is a original USA driver side door mirror, and a new glovebox hatch.
