I have acquired two glove box doors. One has the 'Datsun 240Z' emblem on the top of the door and the other on the bottom. What is the correct one for the Series 1 and when did they change ? Seems strange why they did change them to me - why was this done ?

I will go take a look, but I think the emblem on my glove box door is on the top. I don't know if I ever saw a low emblem. Pictures?

Mine's on the top as well (9/71). I'm kind of surprised that Datsun would have put the emblem on the bottom. The glove box door curves enough that it would be hard to see the emblem down there. Can you post a picture?

Wild guess: Is the emblem upside-down on one door and you were looking at it wrong?

Well done MikeW, but you're only half right in fact as the emblems actually both appear on the right hand side of the door. The total solution came to me in a blinding flash last night - a bit embarrasing really - still 'never be too afraid to ask' is my moto.

So who can complete the mystery ? I'm afraid I have not got any prizes to send to the winner !

Better get back to work now (15.15pm in the UK).

The only way it would look proper on the bottom right (when looking at the door upside-down) would if someone installed the emblem upside-down on the top left.
