The Z Car's Nemesis?

Recommended Posts

My first thought when reading the word Nemesis was "Electrical"! Then after reading all the posts I thought....yes, it has competitors....what would I hate to race? A Shelby Cobra..... but then... they werent at the same time....and Ive never felt that I had something to prove to anyone. I mean, I love my Zs...for more than speed(let it be known Ive gotten more tickets in the last 4 and half years for speeding, than in my whole 30 years of driving!)I love my Z for its class, it style. I cant think of ANY vehicle, EVER that can compete with the looks of my Z. In that category...there is no nemesis...only some wannabee Zs... :classic:

I agree. For the money NOTHING compares to the Z. If you spend a bunch more money it is still difficult to find something to call its nemisis.

The Z is a sports car but it is cheap to maintain and easy to work on... go figure.

Aloha Chuck,

Well, I guess I'm not trying to say they're elitist. And I do know that many of the guys at Pelican do their own work, which I respect because the flat 6 is an amazing machine. The 911 is a status symbol, and unfortunately the people who gravitate towards it because of that reason aren't exactly the "friendly wrenchers" that many of us are.

I completely agree with your comment about the bang-for-the-buck of the Z car. Definitely cannot argue against that.

aloha,

Joel

In the past 6 months I've had my zed on the road, I've been amazed by the number of older guys that will come up to me and tell me stories how they were destroyed in their *insert old aussie V8 muscle car* by a Z. They all seem of have great respect for the zed ("they" being real enthusiasts). Of course then there's the younger generation that generally have no bloody clue. Showed a particular VX SS commodore and a MY03 WRX what my "dunger" (as they put it) could do (on the private race track of course ;) ).

Porsches... Hmm I do like my porsches. There's an older bloke that lives up the road here has a 993 911C4. Absoloutly imaculate that car, handles beautifully, looks stunning and makes one of the most glorious sounds I've ever heard. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

The other day i ran into my insanely hot naighbor at the store.

She says her boy friend and her was out driving her eclipse, when this clown in some kinda car pulled up next to them.

Her bf was driving at the time. So he said he was going to beet the old tub.(he always has been the show off tipe)

Well she went on to say the *the old tub* left him sitting at the light looking at nothing but tire smoke.

My thoughts got the better of me so i had to ask what did it look like? She said it was just like that blue car sitting in my yard.(75 280z)

They just dont build great cars anymore:sleepy:

What is the nemisis of the Zed ???????????????

Weeeell, now, if we're talking on a personal level, the way I drive my little "Precious", any 10 year old on his pushbike could take me at the lights.

Porche, Triumph, MG, Spitfires, Healeys or Zeds.

Hmmm, when it all boils down to the nitty gritty, it's NOT the brand of car that counts, it's the car's preparation and the driver's experience and ability that determines who leads and who follows.

In 1971 a number of 240Z's were entered in the East Africa Safari, one of the toughest races at that time on both car and driver.

The Zeds totally blew away ALL oposition to take out most of the top places.

They enjoyed a similar result in 1972 & 3.

240Zeds also left competitors eating dust in the Monte Carlo Rally.

Rick.

Someone wrote Torana. To you folk who are not familiar with Holden (GM) Toranas, they are a Australian car. I'm guessing that they are from the same era.

The best was a XU1. Straight 6, triple 40's or 45's (not too sure) Was it a 186 or 202ci ? This car was grunty. How grunty???? Did it win Bathurst??? Did the 240Z race at Bathurst. I know the Datsun 1200 coupe won Bathurst (in its class).

Come on you Aussie petrol head panel van whooses, someone is dying to inform us for the XU1's prowess. Was it up for the task?

I can never rember them being raced head to head.

Datsun tended to put more into rally resources at point in time, reliability was a big issue and the 240 proved it. Probably a good reason why the Torana XU1 didn't go well on the rally circuit!

In it's final V8 form it would have outclassed the zed in the straight, but lost it cornering.

[the managment is not resposible for any in-consistancies here-in].
