Well after getting hired for my summer job I was leaving in my 78 and this lady was "straightening up" in her parking space and backed into me completely defiling my right fender. So what should i do from here? Now I have to repair all of the rust on the car and the fender, how much will this fender cost me with all of the labor? Hopefully I can get a good start with insurance money. Well I am in complete disphoria, this is just what I needed. I should be getting Wich Humble's book this weekend so that should also lend some insight.

As for the insurance I cannot help you. Now if only the fender is bad. this is a days job to remove and replace the fender if you have not done it before. Then you have the paint to consider. The insurence co. should cover all the repairs If things are what you stated.

I would seem to me that if only your fender was damaged by the accident and the insurance will cover it that do that. What does that have to do with the rust on the rest of your car? If you have rust in THAT FENDER then holpefully the rust in THAT FENDER will be taken care of. It's not the insurance company's job to restore your car.

Dear Mr. S.B. Lake #1, the insurance is directionately proportionate to the rust because they will not be babysitting me on how I use the money. So with money from a fender i can actually do that and much more becasue i can cut costs.(who wouldn't?) So this could actually be seen as a blessing in disguise which i honestly dont mind. I think you smell me now.

From where I am the insurance rates go up so much that it is more cost effective to not report the claim and just to do the repair alone. The insurance goes up for the claiment reguardless of whos at fault

Do your homework and make sure you dont fall into a trap.

That's sblake01 and yes, I do smell you.

I believe you will have to get an estimate for your repairs at a body shop. Which will probably be only to replace and paint your fender. Now you can just take the check and do it yourself. Pick up a fender at a junk yard and do the rest yourself. Unfortunately I don't think that check is going to provide you with much. If you get lucky you could find a fender that already matches your current paint color.
