Custom Shift knob, Part 2 (pics)

Here is my first pass at turning a shift knob. I used some Redwood "Lace" burl that I have had for a couple of years. The first picture shows the 3 new ones along side of a old one. There are 2 pics of each. If there is a way to combine them onto fewer pages, that would be great. Let me know what you think.

Those look beautiful. I personally like the 3rd shift knob. It would be neat if you made one that was exactly like the original and used the chrome fitting and put the 4-speed template on top. Then you would just have to figure out how to make the steering wheel with a burle wood handle. Anyways, those are really beautiful.

Nice Work,Skip. They look VERY nice. What did you use to finish them?

Do you work with any other varieties of burlwood? Walnut? Maple?

Having done a bit of work with Redwood Burls (making Wall Clocks) I do wonder if they will get damaged by rings on shifting hands? I know burlwood is harder that regular redwood, but I found it could still get dented if I wasn't careful.
