Wanted 16-17" rims for 280zx

Ok well in my previous thread i mentioned i might be getting my hands on a '81 280zx2+2 manual.

Well its now in my posession

It still has the stock 14" wheels. It needs new tires, so before buying new tires, thought i'd see if i can get my hands on some 15-17" rims.

So anyone have some nice looking rims they want to let go?

keep the original z rims and get them polished up. they come up really well, better than chrome even

yeah but they are still only 14's...

unfortunately, not too much in the way of stuff, even 15's are hard to get, expect in hotwires.

or new, performance wheels can do you a number of styles, but around $300 per wheel for 16x7

not much in 16 or 17 comes up very often. basic problem is old datsuns are 10mm offset, whilst most other 4 x 4.5" PCD's are 35mm offset (ie silvia, 180sx, etc.)

Bloody pita wheels. What about the early four stud Z31 wheels?

Simmons et al are basically custom made and will cost you $5-600 each or more.

OK i've managed to source some wheels, they are 4x114.3 stud pattern 16x7" just awaiting confirmination on offset, i hope its ok.

What is the max offset that will work for my 280zx?

I've read many threads explaining offsets, I think understand them.

I believe the stock rims for the '81 280zx where +12mm offset. So how much more is too much?

probably about 20mm

there are lots of 4x114.3 wheels (off silvia/180sx/r32 etc) but they are all around 35-40 offset.

you might find they will fit on the back, but not on the front because they will hit the struts. they might look a little crap on the back to because they will sit too far in...
