Posted May 12, 200420 yr comment_80705 This sounds like a stupid topic I assume, but I do NOT want to scratch or damage my 280Z dash which only has one small crack in it. I searched the forums and didn't find anything. Anyhow, I have a replacement "Datsun 280Z" emblem for my dash, and was wondering what the best way of removing it is. I was thinking of heating it with a hairdryer and trying to pry it off? Maybe squirt some goo gone or 3m adhesive remover on it? Any suggestions? Thanks, - Brandon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11681-removing-old-dash-emblem/ Share on other sites
May 12, 200420 yr comment_80720 I dont have a Z yet but from a quick gallery search it looks like the 'dash emblum' is a thick plastic sticker. To get it off i sugest to pick a corner with a small scraper or stanly knife and peel it off(maybe grab it with pliers.) To get rid of the glue residue just use some 'goo remover' and a small scraper. Thats assuming it is plastic and you dont want to keep it. It shouldent damage your dash. Yeah, I did a search using "dash emblem" and just "emblem" and nothing came back that was topical at all, but maybe the default search does not search across all time, just the last 60 days or something.I'll check that though-- thanks! May 12, 200420 yr comment_80777 Are you referring to the plate on the glove compartment door?If so, you need to disassemble the door, there's a bunch of phillips screws on the inside face of it, then you will have the outside face BACK visible. You'll then be able to see the blind speed nuts that hold that emblem in place.Enrique Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11681-removing-old-dash-emblem/#findComment-80777 Share on other sites

May 13, 200420 yr comment_80865 If it's the same as the one in the 240K/Skyline (flat back, no pins), you might be able to just pop it out with a knife or flat-head screwdriver. Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for broken badges!! Ha! Yeah, it does have the pins in it unfortunately.. I guess I'll have to take a closer look this weekend to see what I need to do with it, but at least I now have an idea about what I need to look for... thanks!
