There are alot of good tools out there. It's all personal preference. Just make sure you get a lifetime guarantee with them. Usually you start with the basics, Metric and standard open end wrenches and a basic socket set in the 3/8 size.

Hi Dead Roman,

I suppose that I have a very peculiar way of buying tools. Apart from buying tools that I currentley need to a job, I always buy some sort of tool or product whenever I go to a supermarket or wholesale supplier. I´ve been collecting tools over the last 5 or 6 years & now rarely get caught out without a suitable tool to do the job.

Maybe it´s not very logical but it certainly worked for me.

I've grown to like MAC over the years. I've got a bit of everything Snap-On, MATCO, Craftsman, Bonny (old stuff) but the name does not impress me. I went to a second-hand store last year, and found a set of German made offset boxes. They are Awesome! Very thin walled and light. So don't limit yourself to one source.

sk-Facom stuff seems to be pretty good. I need to order a set of sockets or something and try em out. Ive heard good stuff about it though. I didnt realize snap on stuff was so expensive untill i started lookin at it the other night. Even the stuff on ebay was rediculous. And WTF i saw a big box (like a 4 piece box HUGE) full of tools going for 160,000 :o holy $^!#.

I have purchased very nice snap on and matco as well as sears pro line , but either way if you lose or misplace or lend it out to friend or family its still not there LOL, I started getting some of my tools at harbor frieght , I wish they sold just 10 , 12 and 14 mm sockets LOL and a 5 pack of philips , I think a good set of tool is a wise investment but an expensive set < with the exception of specialty tools > are just more money just my 2 pennies , :geek:
