Posted May 16, 200420 yr comment_81336 I picked up a car a few weeks ago, it ran fine when I got it. I put it up on jackstands and changed the clutch slave cylinder, when i put is on the ground it wouldn't start. The car is a 260 with a 280zxt engine 83 i believe. Using the stock ecu.All it will do is crank, and a slight stumble if I set the accel just off closed. Now what I have checked,I checked the compression (just checking) 120 across the boardPlugged in a spark plug and grounded it, and a nice hot sparkSetup a fuel pressure gauge, 42lbsWhen I pulled the plugs they smell a bit like gasYou know even if someone has the FSM wiring diagram. I have the FSM for the 260, and have seem to misplaced, my old Haynes manual for my 280zx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11753-260-turbo-convert-wont-start/ Share on other sites

May 17, 200420 yr comment_81382 Were you holding the throttle plate open when doing the comperssion test? I suppose the car wasnt warmed up either since it cant start. The first thing that I would look at is the Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor. Its the biggest culprit in a turbo car not running. First and foremost make sure that everything is correct first, ie, check all connections, look for vacumn leaks, make sure firing order is correct.More then likely though if all else is well the CHTS is bad.Replace it. May 31, 200420 yr Author comment_83435 I have gone through it a few times.... from what i have read thought the CHTS will not stop the car from running, and if so you can run it with the sensor disconnected, right... and just to be sure the CHTS is on the passenger side of the engine near the back (like between 5 and 6)But anyway I actually got it running this weekend, but it only seems to be running on 2ish cylinders (super rough) anyway, Just wondering about if anyone as any other ideas. I have checked the injectors, They all click and they all pulse (checked with noid light or what ever they are called)we marked the disributer and moved it a bit with very little differnce... at one point the car willnot run at all but where it is/was it runs the best, very rough....
