HI, i ahve a 240z 73, since that year datsun put some parts on it too make it pass emission, waht parts can i take off to make it lighter or more powerfull (simpler to)) besides the flat carbs that suks

You really won't get much more power removing your emission stuff. But you could remove almost all of it with out having any problems (most of the emission parts probably don't even work anymore). Start with getting some early SU's with the air box. When I did mine I first got the carbs, had the Ztherapy rebuild done, then I went a little overboard and customized the carbs a little bit for appearance. Once I got them to where I wanted I replaced the flat tops.

I have heard not to remove the carbon canister because you will get worse gas mileage if you do. I removed the EGR, the emissions pump, and a bunch of other stuff. It really smells. If your emissions equip works then I would just leave it.

thx ed i already changed he carbs and head and tomorrow (may 31) ill removed the smog pump and everything that it can give me more hp and less traouble later if they become damaged exept he carbon canisted

everything up like a eary 71 or 70.

Leave the pcv, breather tapped into the air box(filter housing), vent to the filter housing, etc. Get rid of everything else. But remember to tune it like a earlier model Z :devious:
