I have:

- put in extractors w/ 2.5" exhaust on her

- converted her to a 5 speed manual from the Auto

- converted to unleaded.

I am asking a reasonable $8,500.

Hi Alex!

I think that Wisey lives in Australia, one of the countries that received the 260Z through 1978. Also talking in OZ dollars, and emissions stuff.

260z are beautiful cars as well, and the export 260z's are even superior to the 240 performance wise because they were just as light, but with a bigger engine and the good carbs. Don't be dissing the 260, I just might cry:cry: .

Strarting with 1973 240Z's U(S spec) Z's had side intrusion bars and allegedly a unibody made of thicker steel, and of course those wondeful bumpers which weighed more than the previous years of 240Z.

I do not know if our 260Z's received even more weight than 240Z's .

I would suspect that our 1975 - 1978 280Z's were heavier than the 260Z's that OZ received during those years for similar reasons (added safety features).

Hey Aux, try reading the location of the poster. The USA aint the only country on the planet.:finger:

Yeah we got the 260z right up to 77.

Converted to unleaded: meaning all out pertol is minimum 91 octane, but in the 80's we started taking the lead out of the petrol, requiring the heads to have harder valve seats. (not the bronze ones the early heads had). Our premium is 95 octane, and our hi octane fuel is 98.

8,500.00 Australia Dollars = 6,074.75 USD

(If its a 2+2, tell him he's dreaming)

You guys have lower than 91 octane gas? I'd be upset about that.

Quote from a fuel website:

Higher octane fuels and pre-1986 LRP vehicles

Many older cars from the 1970’s and 1980’s that required leaded fuel were actually designed for a 98-100 octane fuel. As these cars are now legally required to use lead replacement fuel (LRP) which has a lower octane rating than leaded fuel, these cars could benefit from higher octane fuel. However, if a higher octane fuel is used in pre-1986 vehicles, the engines may need to be modified or an aftermarket anti-valve seat recession additive used to protect the engine.

Lachlan, I was under the impression that the Australlian and other export Z's besides the US had a car that was very similiar in weigth to the 240z. I did not phrase it right before, but I meant the export 260 besides the the US spec version. Did the Australlian 260's get the side intrusion bars?

Yes they did. All cars after 197X (something) probably around 74 had to have side intrusion members in them. It was an ADR that was brought in around that time.

I have a set of 2+2 doors with side intrusion members, and they are bloody heavy.

I have got one for the list RS30 export spec RH Drive 260z first registered under T reg in the UK in Sep of 1978 so the 2 seater 260z had a good production / sales run.

My thoughts on a good 260z in Australia light weight with plenty of power, this would have to be an early Z. I think the late model smog carbies would have been a killer and very restrictive in the power department.

Those intrusion bars are useless they may have met the intrusion regulations for ADR but all they achieve is an extra way to set up rust in the door and totally trash the door in aside impact making driver or passenger recovery from the vehicle a lot harder and writting of the door no worries.

my 2c
