May 24, 200420 yr comment_82437 ......Or somebody is willing to publicly inflate their value in hopes of selling a factory restoration for a little less money!Money moves, fees are paid, car stays in the same garage- medium to long lived ebay ids with little or no activity-hmmm!Sounds a little like a rooster poot to me!if the price keeps going up, somebody does not want to lose his car...Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11866-someone-got-their-inheritance/#findComment-82437 Share on other sites
May 24, 200420 yr comment_82440 I could be wrong, but I think this car looks like the one that one of our members (who doesn't post much anymore) bought in FL a year or two ago and brought north to NY. May 24, 200420 yr comment_82450 You might be right, Carl. :classic: Wasn’t his name Burt, and went by “cardogman†on this forum? If I recall, he bought the in Florida and lives in New York. I felt really sorry for the guy because didn’t his radiator go bad and some acid was accidentally spilled on the car? That might explain why the radiator doesn’t look original (note the roof-shapped fan guard as opposed to the normal round arch). Also, he may have had the car repainted due to the acid incident. That might account why the black stripe on the hood is now missing. Also, he may have removed the fogs light (were installed behind the grille) slotted mags and added the overriders on the front and rear. I wish Burt would chime in and set the record straight. May 24, 200420 yr comment_82451 She's a beauty -- looks factory fresh, even if it isn't one of the factory restored cars. Gary Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11866-someone-got-their-inheritance/#findComment-82451 Share on other sites
May 24, 200420 yr comment_82452 IIRC, Burt lived not far out on Long Island, and that's where Rockville Center happens to be.... Be willing to bet this is his car. He hasn't posted here since 03. May 24, 200420 yr comment_82455 Well yes, Burt (cardogman1) is the person I was thinking of. Here is a THREAD posted about Burts car when he bought it.I remember that he did acquire a overrider bar for his car and he did have a bit of an accident with his young son spilling some acid on a dorr panel, as I recall. I checked Burt's gallery for pictures, but it is empty. For some reason he quit posting here and in his last post mentioned that he was participating on the IZCC mail list instead of our website. It is a very nice car, but I'd be surprised if it sells at the price it is being offered. I have been surprised on occasion. Also sorry to hear (if it is) that Burt won't be a Z owner. He is a nice guy. Gave me a good deal on some parts that he didn't need. May 24, 200420 yr comment_82494 I just posted on "Z Car Value" thread. It is Burt's car and according to Burt in this morning's e-mail, negotiations for the sale of the car are underway - evidently a deposit has been made and it looks like the deal is going forward. Burt did quite a bit of work to the car, however I can't tell you first hand about all the details. I took some of the pictures in the eBay addhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2479364353&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:ITwhen I saw it in Florida last fall.Burt regrets selling the car, but felt it was more of a "trophy" and feared driving it for what might happen to it and the additional mileage he would put on it. Burt will be with us at the National convention in June. May 25, 200420 yr comment_82637 I love it and I love all Z's:love: but if you cant or wont drive it then imo why own one?No offense to the Z or Burt, but why buy a car that you wont or are afraid to drive? Its a beautiful sports car that is meant to be driven! now if it was worth say 100+k then I would say park it in the garage.Ill never be afraid to drive my Z. Well except in the snow:cross-eye That I will never do.
