Posted May 24, 200420 yr comment_82519 19 confirmed touchdowns Saturday Night. Closest was about 12 miles from me. Count my blessings today!! Three people I know have nothing left. Makes me appreciate things more today. Like all you Z people. This morning people are finding debris as far as 73 miles away. Simply amazing the power of Mother Nature. May 24, 200420 yr comment_82541 Yes, as I said earlier Chris, glad you're OK. Do you have some type of bunker that you can get into in the event a tornado is heading your way? Us lucky Floridians have hurricane season starting on June 1st. I've lived in Florida since 1971 and have been through quite a few but no direct hits, thank God. When I lived on the beach, we watched our neighbors boat sink and the water level came right up to the sliding glass doors. I guess we all have some type of weather season we have to deal with. Be careful and protect your family, yourself and your Z. The 3 most important things in our lives:classic: Vicky Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11876-twisters-galore/#findComment-82541 Share on other sites
May 25, 200420 yr Author comment_82647 Hey Vicky, thanks again for your concern. I went for a drive last night and it was 18.4 miles to the worst damage. There was minor stuff closer but the F4 twister was just too close for comfort. I do have a bunker in the basement. I've heard that some of the people who got hit didnt have basements. Holy Cow that would be scary. I heard one family rode it out in their bathtub in the center of the house. I was at a restaurant in Grand Island Nebraska back in 1980 and an hour or so later the city got hit with 5 twisters from one supercell. Wicked weather. Hurricanes make me nervous as well. I lived in Coral Gables for awhile but never got to experience a hurricane. My uncle shot home movies of the twisters that clobbered Omaha in 75. We watch it every now and then. Morbid but fascinating at the same time. Z-ya,Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11876-twisters-galore/#findComment-82647 Share on other sites
May 25, 200420 yr comment_82705 I've lived in Missouri and Minnesota, and visited Texas often, so I'm no stranger to Tornadoes. I'll take quakes, hurricanes, whatever you can throw at me over a tornado. Nothing else is as terrifying. A hurricane seems brute force untargeted, but a tornado seems to hunt and chase something...*shudder*. They are fascinating to watch, but after you see a house torn to smithereens they become a little more frightening.
