May 25, 200420 yr comment_82609 i'm assuming you want it to come on only with ignition switch on. off with key out etc. i usually just run the wire to anything in the fuse block that comes on with key inserted and turned to accessory position. but then again, i'm only partially electrically inclined and stick to mechanical stuff.squid Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11883-how-do-i-connect-my-radio-to-the-12v-source/#findComment-82609 Share on other sites
May 25, 200420 yr comment_82627 Is this a new radio?I think the red wire is the switched wire (the one that goes off when you turn the key off), and the yellow one is the always on one (not switched) so that the radio remembers the presets and keeps time. The cigarette lighter is a good choice for the alway on (is it always on in a z?) . also the original radio circuite is good for the switched power source. May 25, 200420 yr comment_82665 I would suggest using the stop/horn circuit for the clock power. Always hot. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11883-how-do-i-connect-my-radio-to-the-12v-source/#findComment-82665 Share on other sites

No, they do not.You need to buy or borrow a volt/ohmeter and do as others have suggested, find two voltage sources. One of the wires goes to a switched voltage source, the other goes to a unswitched source. It's not rocket science, ask one of your local friends who knows a little about electronics to look at it with you.
