May 26, 200420 yr comment_82725 There is only one way to tell which you have..............remove the head from the block.HOW do you tell? Short answer is to look at the shape of the combustion chamber.Long answer is to use the SEARCH function on this website (use "early E88" as your search term_. This has been discussed a dozen times and people have attached pictures of the combustion chambers etc in those threads. You can find the answers to a lot of common questions through the search function. (we tend to talk about this kind of stuff alot) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11908-how-do-i-know-wich-e88-head-do-i-have/#findComment-82725 Share on other sites

May 26, 200420 yr comment_82810 Check out this thread:http://www.classicZcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13114There's some pics of my shaved and ported E88 which is still open to debate as to whether it's early on not - probably not. Also Carl has attached an image of the early E88 chamber. Shame it's a head off job though!Cheers,Rob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11908-how-do-i-know-wich-e88-head-do-i-have/#findComment-82810 Share on other sites

May 26, 200420 yr comment_82828 No idea how the car will drive with this head on it as I got it on Ebay. My Z's a '73 so it's probably go the late head on it anyway, certainly hasn't got any power that's for sure You might want to consider shaving your current head, that would probably work out cheaper than sourcing an early E88 plus you won't have to mess about reseting all the lash pads and stuff! It wouldn't take much of a shave to get the chamber volume down to the early head spec I'm sure. May 26, 200420 yr comment_82848 Rob I responded to your post about your head. It is an early E88. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11908-how-do-i-know-wich-e88-head-do-i-have/#findComment-82848 Share on other sites
