Hey guys, I am debating to get rid of my p79 head and get a p90 head for my F54 block I am putting in my 1970 240Z. I can get the head from a dismantler for $150.00. Is it worth the money and will I notice a great improvement over the p79? I do not plan to race, but I want a fast every day car. Thanks, Rick.

Rick

check out this link-everything is spelled out here for you, I don't think any member here will dissagree with this info. Don't forget the P90 page!

PS. check car-parts.com for the head, 81-82 if you want a P90, 1983 if you want the P90A-I think you can probably do a little better than $150

I spent some time searching the pick-a-part yards. Like Ecology and Killroys in the Long Beach area. Found a P90 for $40 and a R200 (4:11) for $35 on a half price weekend. If you find a P90 just cut or disconnet all the hoses and wires. Remove the timing chain then remove the head bolts and remove the head. Do not try to remove the intake and exchaust manifolds you can spend a whole day under the car. The yards tend to cut the down pipe so all you have to do is losen the head from the block and pull it up and off the engine. Once on the ground you can rotate the head to remove the manifolds. Remove the cam if you don't want to pay for it. This 3 day weekend coming up is a half price for all the parts taken. I have to check but think it is Ecology they have a web site. www.ecoparts.com

Hey Guys

I currently run a P90 head on my f54 L28 and for my compression that head is great. Its a larger head with a great flow (remembering they were made for Turbo units) but you have to consider what you want from it. The have a large combustion chamber (54cc i think).

I love it, im running 175psi per cylender as it is, so droppping to like a 88 head isnt an option for me, or ill be getting GT3 compression.

But i can vouch for their awsomeness (excuse the awful english) cant help you on prices though, cause mine was on the car when i bought it
