Have removed the rear LHS quarter panel to remove the dead PO installed power aerial. Looked down inside the panel to see two filler worms poking into the inside. The position looks like where the side marker would have been.

As this car is an Aussie Series 1, I thought that they didn't have side markers? The RHS side has no provision for them but the LHS has two spare conductors hanging out of the wiring loom

I guess that the LHS rear end could have been replaced with a later model panel due to crash damage, but that doesn't explain the conductors???

Any clues. This car has a build date of 12/70.

What color are the wires? I have two black/white, I think they are for a speaker.

I don't recall the speaker wires in the loom. Nor do I recall a speaker on the left rear quarter for an early car like that. The two rear marker light wires should be black and green/white. However this is from the USA series manual. I would not be surprised to see the wires in the loom even though the marker light was not installed.

i have got a US spec 1971 240Z and where the power aerial and marker light is i have also got two spare electrical conections.i thought they might be for a rear fog light to connect to but i have been unable to follow it by the wiring diagram.

On my 1973, I have blue/red and blue/white for the power antennae, green/white and black for the side marker lamp, and white/black and white for a speaker. That is the factory location.

It has solid white and white/black stripe on one branch and the other is blue/red stripe and blue/white stripe.

The rear quarter panel has holes in it for the speaker. A speaker was installed but was connected to cabling separate to the wiring loom (crappy 0.5mm2 twin...nothing good about that). I'll be running new twins at some stage during the resto....:tapemouth

your blue/red stripe and blue/white stripe is for a power antenna and the other white and white/black only shows up on later wiring diagrams as speaker connections.i hope this will help.
