Rick...forgot to ask one question. Does your car have A/C? One of the main reasons for buying the orange car with sunroof was I learnt from the previous 240Z I had 15 years ago that they get really hot during a Sydney summer. As 240's never came with A/C I figured the sunroof might cool me down a bit (bloody forgot that 15 years ago I had hair on top; so now I'm cooler but getting wicked cranium tans whenever I forget my cap!). Must be bloody hot in Yeppoon! If you have A/C how does the sunroof handle the sealing issue?

that is definitely a pretty color, and a pretty car! She's a beaut!

I've never considered a sunroof, if only because the curve of the roof is perfect as it is...if the sunroof was basically a rectangle cut, with the inside portion being the roof (to keep the curve) then I might consider....something like the old Porsche 944 had....

Good luck on this project,

LOLLOLLOL

A/C ?????????????????????????????????

I just roll down the windows mate.

Here in Yeppoon, a day without a sea breeze is a rarity.

I like the colour of your Zed. Would probably gone for a similar colour myself had I not been able to find out the original colour code for my "Precious". When I enquired at the local Nissan dealer, all I needed was to tell him the engine number and body number and "HEY PRESTO" up popped the code on the computer screen.

My 260 is also an Auto but I have no trouble with clutch/band slippage. The only changes I've made is installing an R200 diff, chucking out the alien carby set up and installing a pair of 240Z hitachis. Had some fun sourceing an air box but one the members came through with one in bloody good nick at a price I couldn't turn down. (He's another Sydneyite. For that matter, so was I 'till age 20 when I saw the light and joined the Army to get out of there).

I'm having a bit of trouble sourceing those long bolts and wingnuts to mount the air box but Warren from All Z Parts is trying to find some for me. He's never let me down so far.

Rick...glad to hear you got an air cleaner box from a Sydneysider. Brett's a good bloke, I used to see him often at the Syd Z Car Club monthly meetings before he headed O/S to US. I also know Warren pretty well too (I helped him judge the 280ZX, Z31 and Z32 std class at the Nationals over Easter)...if by any chance he cannot source the bolts you need you can always use long socket head cap screws (Unbrako) instead. (I have been looking for the same bolt for a while now too...but the Unbrako works just fine...see attached thumbnail).

If you can't source these Unbrakos in the vicinity of your "Capricorean paradise", I'd be happy to pick up a couple more of these bolts next time I'm out and about and send 'em up to you...both Blackwoods and Coventry Fasteners are just a couple of kms from my place. But do you have the threaded hex spacer these go into? That's harder to source!

G'Day Mark,

HUH ???????????? What's this about threaded hex spacers ?????.

As Sgt Shultz used to say, "I Know Nothing". About spacers that is.

Where and how are they fitted ??.

I thought I only needed the long bolts. POOP !!!. This is the first I've heard of the spacers.

The previous owner of "Precious" chucked out the 260Z carbies and installed a couple of aliens with sports air cleaners. (Check out the photos in my thread "How's this for a carby setup" or something like that in the Australian Forum). Bloody dangerous, especially when petrol started pouring out of the hole in the fuel filter directly above the manifold. I was advised to get 240Z carbies, which I did, and so began the search for all the bits and pieces. Meanwhile poor "Precious" sits in the garage.

I know the bloke who manages Bolt and Steel Sales in Rockhampton. I'll check with him about the long socket head cap screws if Warren can't help me. I take it that "UNBRAKO" is a brand name ????????.

Warren's last email said that he knows he has some of the parts I need, just give him a couple of days to see what he can find. I've had my fingers crossed ever since. Makes it damned awkward handling tools like that. :stupid: :stupid:

Thanks for the info. If Warren can't help me and I can't source those bolts locally, I'll take you up on your offer.

Rick.

Rick..

Click on the following link http://carfiche.com/fiche/s30/index.pl?2:g:6

Item # 12 is the threaded hex spacer. Item # 11 is the wing head bolt. For item #15 you can use std M8 screws. You'll need 2 of each of these.

Unbrako is a brand name. Your bolt guy in Rocky should know them. M8 socket head cap screws from Unbrako also come in black, which look better than stainless on the orange air cleaner box.

Also check if you've got the gaskets (item #10) glued onto the air cleaner box...otherwise you'll need to get these from Warren too. He has the same Nissan microfiche on CD-ROM, so just quote him the partnumbers (if you can read them)

Good Luck!

Mark
