This might have been covered before, but can any one tell me if a brake booster can be tested off the car? like with a vacuum gun? or does it need to be on the car with the engine running for any tests?

I have 2 early 1970's servos, one was working when it was taken off ( about 13 years ago :classic:) the other is an unknown but is probably the original from my my 1970 so 34 years old!!!

Or given the age of the components should I just get a rebuilt one?

thanks for any help

Andrew
