What came first , Fairlady or 240 ?

Great to learn that another low VIN is being saved.

I have #352 and the colour is baffling me somewhat. I call it a plum colour but mine has a metallic fleck in it also.

You should be able to confirm the colour my looking at the paint code sticker on the radiator. Post a pic of it and also some of the car when you can. My radiator has been recored and the sticker has been painted over....damn that PO.

This is the pic when I pulled it out of the barn it was stored in. I know the car was repainted at one time but my understanding is the same color as original. Its not as dark as it appears in the picture,

I do have the original wheels and caps. It does have a header on it but that was installed after my father picked it up.

Oh by the way the only reason he bought it was to drop a 327 in it!

I didnt even know he still had it until a couple years ago. I though he sold it then I found out it was in the back of his barn so I went to pic it up.

He also has a 280Z engine with 3 miles on it. The car was dropped off a transport and totaled out on the way to the dealer. He was able to pick up the engine for a few dollars "out the back door". I was going to go over this engine and stick it in the Fairlady and keep the original safe .

Original Japanese market Factory colours for your car would have been:

*#901 Monte Carlo Silver

*#905 Daytona Red

*#919 Le Mans Yellow

*#920 Safari Gold

*#904 Grand Prix White ( Optional colour )

*#907 Grand Prix Green ( Optional colour )

*#918 Grand Prix Orange ( Optional colour )

I'd be very surprised if your current exterior colour turns out to have been the original Factory colour. As you get further into the restoration you will possibly find evidence of a different colour in hard-to-get-at and obscure places.

The L28 engine would be preferable to the 327 from my point of view!

I have found a hint of "yellow or gold' in one spot behind a panel, I though maybe that was a goofy primer color or maybe the car was a taxi at one point !

I have not started pulling the car down . I need to research and take photos of everything and finish another project before I start this one. By this time next year I should have it stripped to the shell. Im going to need alot of help with details, I have never done an import.

You have a very nice car. When your restoration is finished you will really have something unique. I hope that you restore it to its original form or something very close.

You said that you still have the original steel wheels and hubcaps. You must have the early caps with the silver octagon in the middle instead of the "D" found on the export cars. If you found some yellow, then your car was probably 920 gold, which is a very nice and unique color. I have never seen a 920 gold Z in person, but I love it in pictures.

This is a little off topic, but about a year ago I saw a silver Fairlady Z on ebay that sold for 4500USD. It was a 1969 model as well. I believe it was -00600 something. I wonder where that car is now. It was sold from L.A. California.

After we pulled it out of the garge it sat outside for 6 weeks before I could move it to my garage. In that time one of the goats got free and climbed on the roff ! Yes it left hoof prints but since it getting a full resto no big deal. I could have shot that goat though.

Don't be mad at the goat. I think he was a admirer of the Z. He claimed the Z as His territory making it known that if any other goat gets near her, Ms. Fairlady Z herself, then he is going to open a can of whoop.... You know the rest.
