June 3, 200420 yr comment_83865 Pretty nice little red Z. Engine bay needs cleaning up. Overall the price seems fair.Vicky Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12049-listed-as-1971-but-truly-is-a-1970/#findComment-83865 Share on other sites

This eBay car is HLS30-17864 which was probably manufactured in Dec 1970 or Jan 1971. June 3, 200420 yr Author comment_83869 Mike,That's very interesting to me. It has the 20 mph speedometer, rear vent grills and "240Z" logos on the rear pillars, that I thought were only on '70 240's only. Take a look at this:http://zhome.com/History/DesignChanges.htmYou'll notice that the design changes were introduced gradually. There are no strict cutoffs. There are even plenty of cases where there are overlaps in model years. I have a very early 1972 car which was built before some 1971 cars. Those items are to be found on the cars that were ( more or less ) on the cars built up to the end of the calendar year 1970 cars plus a few in Jan 1971, not just the registration year 1970 cars. So as Mike says it would be a 1971 year car but probably manufactured dec 70 or Jan 71.hope it helpsAndrew Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12049-listed-as-1971-but-truly-is-a-1970/#findComment-83872 Share on other sites
