Posted June 5, 200420 yr comment_84108 Looking to order in some replacement heater hoses. The VB catalog is for LHD cars, are the hoses identical for RHD 240's?I'm guessing they are, but just want to be sure before I take the plunge.Thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12076-heater-hoses-differences-rhd-vs-lhd/ Share on other sites
June 5, 200420 yr comment_84111 240znzThey are the same.Although the heater box is different RHD vs LHD the heater core is the same and the outlets in the bulkhead are in the same placeregardsAndrew Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12076-heater-hoses-differences-rhd-vs-lhd/#findComment-84111 Share on other sites
June 6, 200420 yr Author comment_84118 Cheers Abas,I thought they would be but I had to make sure.I have a master brake cylinder for a 72-73 240 that the PO hadn't fitted. He got it in the US. It looks different to the 70-71 and my VB catalog confirms that they are different. The VB catalog also tells me that the 72 costs 69.95 and the 70-71 costs 189.95. Yikes. Will I have issues if I fit the later cylinder to my 71 ZED? eg brake pressue problems? The only cosmetic difference is that the fluid reservoir is larger. June 6, 200420 yr comment_84119 The brake master cylinders should have two reservoirs. The two different master cylinders have the reserviors reversed. In other words the reservoir(and that portion of the M/C) that serves the Front brakes (larger one) is in a different place. You should have no problems so long as you bend or replace the lines so that the Larger reservoir (and that portion of the M/C) still serve the front (disc) brakes. The rear (drum) brakes do not require as much fluid to be "pushed" by the M/C to be activated. June 6, 200420 yr Author comment_84129 Cheers Carl,I could have cocked that right up if I hadn't known they swapped them around. The car will be totally stripped then put back together. I'll see how the budget is before installing new lines. Problem is that the more you look into these cars, the more the re-build budget creeps up..........arrrggghhhhhhh. June 6, 200420 yr comment_84138 240znzYou need to look into the servo pushrods length as well. I'm no expert, but the pushrod on my 72 car is much longer than the one on my 1970 car. I'm sure it has been discussed here previously so if you search the site you will find something about servos and pushrod lengths.hope it helps Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/12076-heater-hoses-differences-rhd-vs-lhd/#findComment-84138 Share on other sites
June 8, 200420 yr Author comment_84378 Will the length of the servo pushrods have any effect though? Was there any changes to the front or rear brakes from S1 240's to S2 240's that would prehibit the use of S2 master cylinders??? I have not done this change of Master Cylinders so i cannot speak from experience, but I don't recall anyone having a problem with the servo-rod length when doing this swap. If there is a difference in the rod length it will make a difference in how the M/C is actuated by the Master Vac ( brake servo). Only problem I have heard of is the need to make sure the larger Reservoir and that part of the M/C still serves the Front brakes Maybe someone else can advise and we'll both learn a bit more. As for the changes to the system that would preclude doing the swap, I haven't heard of any, and more than a few folks have done the change due to the extreme expense of the early M/C.
