Castlemain Rod Shop, Rb Conversion Kits

Recommended Posts

hey

was just looking at castlemain rod Shopweb site, and they have a conversion kit for the Rb30, or a 253/308 or a chev motor into the ol 240/260, i'm not sure of the price of this kit or what comes with it, id assume, engine mounts/modified sump etc, which would be of good quality and already engineerd etc.

I have emailed them, but i havn't got a reply yet.

Has anyone looked at this kit, or used it yet, as i think its quite new to there range.

Thanks

website is

www.rodshop.com.au

and are in castlemain, in victoria.

I have the engine mounts and took photos of their sump.

You can see discussion on this in the enigne forum under sump design.

It is not very new, it has been in there range for some time now, the mounts look in good order but i havent test fitted yet, the sump is questionable.

Sump 2 is done in new zealand by the engine builder I used.

Sump 1 is by CRS, thats why I said they are questionable.

No photos of the mounts yet, not test fit yet so I cant say how they are but the RB30 is the tallest of the RB's so I am a bit worried about bonnet clearance.

Do they make a cross member for the gearbox?

$500 sounds alot for a sump, a mate of mine did his rb convert all himself. Cut the sump, reversed it and welded it back up couldn't tell you if windage etc was a concern, but he was privy to some high tech tools at his job.

I don't even own a welder :classic:

they have a gearbox mount for the VL auto box I think it was, but out of all the mounts I think the gearbox mount I think would be the easiest to make, I might even have a crack at it LOL

$500 is a lot but off the street customs jobs at places I have asked are $600-$800 plus they need my car which is hardly drivable.
