piston connecting rod(s)

Anyplace besides MSA have connecting rods for a 71 240? Trying to get away with not having to pay over $100 a pop. One bit the $^!# but would like to replace all of them rather inexpensively just to get her up and running till I can do the engine the way I want in a few years.

You say that one of your rods bit the s#!*. Did it do any damage to the cylinder wall or the block? Maybe you should buy a used engine. Then you have all the internals. I think you could pick up a used L24 for about $100 bucks from a guy I know that lives in Niagara Falls. :classic:

Victoria british doesn't carry the rods, but I did order their piston, rings, and pin package to go ahead and replace all six while I have most of the engine apart.

Having a parts engine would be lovely, but I definitly don't have the time to drive to niagra to pick the sucker up. I think I'm going to try and see what the price is through Nissan or start hitting up local yards.

Thanks for the input, I just figured with the L24 rods being sought after for bore and stoke combo's that more places would have them available. If anyone else has any other ideas I can use all the info I can get!

It may not make any difference to you, but didn't the 71 have the smaller diameter rod bolts? If you replace all the rods, you might want to go with the ones that use the larger diameter bolts. I think that the 73 240 had the larger bolts, but not sure. Someone else here can give you the correct info on this. Victor.
