April 16, 200718 yr comment_206162 My local U.S. Post Office provides free Priority Mail boxes. They are to be used for Priority Mail through the USPS only. I've been using them to ship items for several years. You can even have boxes delivered to your home for free to use to ship items. There are even co-labeled Priority Boxes with the eBay logo printed on them. Even though it seems a sin, the post office does not like you to even re-cycle already used boxes by turning them inside out. If they suspect it they will want you to pay Priority mail prices. I understand this is so people don't take advantage of this free service, but when they are already used it makes sense to recycle rather than add to the wastestream. April 16, 200718 yr comment_206165 he does overcharge for shipping. It's the old buyer beware i guess since he doesnt provide a shipping calc. I bought four heater hoses (15.00) clamps from him two weeks ago and he charged me 7 bucks for shipping. His postage was less than a dollar and he used an old USPS box to send it in. Oh well, he has parts that even MSA doesnt carry or is "out of stock" in. Z-Connexion seems like he has more fairer prices and shipping charges. April 16, 200718 yr comment_206171 When I was still living in the States I always used the free USPS boxes, they save you a lot of money when your dealing with small items, plus USPS is the fastest and cheapest way to ship (domestic or international). I to am guilty of using a Priority Mail box to send stuff international, but then again I only use USPS so I don't feel guilty as I give them PLENTY of business. I also re-cycle and reship in boxes that are in good shape. Saves you money, time and effort. I don't think I have had to pay for ANY packing material in the last three years, just kept and reused from when I bought things via mail.I bought some stuff from Reddat about a year ago. I asked to pick it up locally to save me the wait and the cost of shipping, he said no (I think he lives less than 5 miles from where I use to live). I wasn't thrilled about that one, but then again he did discount me as I ordered a good bit of rubber from him.My shipping cost was more than the actual cost (I think 7 bucks for a 2.55 shipment) but I wasn't to concerned as I bought about 85 bucks worth of small rubber parts. All were ok quality, which I was fine with. The box the rubber was shipped in was re-used (which I like as it saves trees, money, costs). It's sometimes hard when selling on Ebay to gauge what the cost is when shipping. I usually overprice my shipping cost by 2 dollars so that 1) If there is a problem at the post office and it comes out more I am covered and 2) If I got it right I cover my Paypal cost and some of the auction cost. When I sold things on ebay it was always small stuff for some extra cash. In the end I think I broke even on my shipping costs most times.Reddat could be a little more honest about his shipping costs. A lot of sellers will sell you an item for 8.99 that costs 24.99 but then charge you 23.99 for shipping. They do this because they are only charged a Final Value Fee on the 8.99, not the shipping cost. It's stupid, but that is what a lot of them do. April 18, 200717 yr comment_206466 I have bought from reddat and yes his shipping charges are too much. He charged me $8 to ship a set of front hub dust caps. I was sent an email less than a day later asking how I was going to pay - I felt like I had gotten a collection call. The parts I have gotten from him have all been as represented and shipped in a timely fashion. I would buy from him again but would first negotiate the shipping cost. I left positive feedback but was a little irritated.
