1971 Hub Caps

I've seen a couple spares and a set or two of used "D" hubcaps over the past few months. I haven't paid too much attention, since "I have mine" :classic: , but I watch the prices. The used sets of four are still easily breaking $200 - $250 or more. With that darned braided radiator hose going for over $100 the other day, the hubcaps will be going up too, I suppose!

I have found a full set near here. The guy put em on a 260z. This car has no trans no interior no floor pans. He was rebuilding it then he got tired of it. has a strong running 128 FI engine.

I was sirusly considering buying this for parts (the body is shot)

But $500 is out of my price range.

Just a note to point out that those dcaps are the genuine early ones, that have a smaller number of hooks round the edge to keep them on. (They are the ones that fall off if you corner too spiritedly:classic: )

I don't know when the later ones (with more hooks) came in exactly.

My set of dcaps is 2 early ones and 2 later ones that I paid significantly more than $149 for:cry: )

Not very much. The ones on this thread are unique, early, hard to find items for very early 240Z's. The ones you have (pictured in your other sale thread) are for 280Z's, are not hard to find (I have 8), and are often up on e-bay and don't sell. Watch e-bay for a couple weeks, and you'll see a couple sets float by. That'd give you an idea.

I believe this is the correct thread for my question regarding proper hubcaps for year of car.

I have a May 1971 240Z and would like to find the hubcaps that would have been proper on it when new. The car had aluminum slotted mags when I purchased it in 1973 so I don't know what the original hubcaps would have looked like.

Would anyone here happen to know what hubcaps would have been on my car when new? The early "D" style or the later red center cap "Z" style?

Thanks for your help!
