OK after getting my tank and new lines < fuel > I have developed a overflow that doesn't want to shut off when the float is raised, when I start the car it runs fun without the choke but after 5-10 second the back car closest to the firewall start pouring out gas from the overflow valve and also from the inside where the piston is? would the stuck open valve cause this to happen as well? also does anyone have a pic of their float ? I adjusted mine perfectly , not sure how it got out of adjustment but when the float lifts it touches the bottom of the valve but gets kinda stick on the flat bottom of it , should I sand down the bottom to make it round? , I know alot of questions here , but about to take my bat to the carbs :)

sounds like dirt or crud in the shut off valve or the shutoff is shot. If you are sure you adjusted the float correctly , that can only be the answer. messing with it with a file or sand paper will not do anything but make it worse. Unless you have installed the wrong fuel pump and it is putting out too much pressure.

...with the tank and lines?

There is something else going on if your float levels were good one day and not good the next. They don't just change unless you have brass floats that can fill with gas and that will be a gradual thing.

To double check that your floats are set "just right" take the domes and pistons out and look down in the nozzles to see where the static fuel level is.

Another thing, pull the fuel inlet nipple off the float bowl lids and check / clean the final filters going back to the tank / lines thing?

Seerex, I've had the same problem with one of my carbs. If the car isn't used for awhile the fuel evaporates from the bowls and the floats drop. When fuel is supplied again to carbs one float sticks as if there is no fuel, and gas flows from overflow vent.

I then pull the cover off of stuck bowl and free the stuck float and reinstall.
