Frame rail repair?????

Featured Replies

Found this on e-bay and thought it was a weird way of repairing the frame rails. Notice the notches. And is he just covering up the old rusted metal? What do you guys think?

The rear section looks like a full replacement of the under floor rail. The front section looks like a patch to be put over top of the original rail. Probably not a good idea if the rail is rusty, but would work fine for those rails that have been "modified" by someone that didn't know where to put a jack or jackstands.:ermm:

He's been offering these for over a year now - I see them offered every few weeks. I'm assuming that he's manufacturing them, and that it isn't actually the same set over and over. It looks to me like the small kerfs (cuts) in the metal are his way of making the bends in the metal. Not particularly professional. I'd go with Charlie Osborne's (and in fact, I did!).

For $85 I think I would go with the better qualty Zed findings ones.

If the reserve was set at the current bit price($55) I would have to problem purchasing the rails for a daily driver. By no means would I put these on my resturation project.

I think these are the ones being offered by auto rust doctors..if so, they are the same shop that did the work on Wick Humbles 240..

how would one go about fixing the frame rails on a 280z so it is more rigid and not likely to rust

1) Zedd Findings Frame rail kit approximately $350 with shipping

Excellent Replacements for damaged rails-both sides.

2) Rust treatment, POR15, ZeroRust, Corroless, etc

Follow the directions on which ever treatment you use to the letter.

3) Treat the entire floor and the newly installed rails, inside and out.

Make sure you are careful in the prep-work.

4) Never worry about your floors/framerails again!

Sorry about that, I should have posted the link as well.

Charley Osborne is the owner, good Guy! Tell him we sent you!
