car will not run.

I am having problems with my 1975 280z...

Sometimes it will kill right after a start or sometimes it will kill after about 20 min.

i attached a fuel pressure gauge right after the fuel filter.

When i start the car it will raise to 30 psi and slow drop down till it kills, If i try and step on the gas it will not help it. Sometime by stepping on the gas the gause will jump to 40psi and then it will just slowly drop back down again until it kills...

My question is, could it be just that simple of a problem that the fuel pump is bad?? Is there something else i should check?

and on a side note... when the car does run, it will kill when i pull out the dipstick or unscrew the oil fill cap. Is this normal?

I am asking cause my 2003 nissan will stay running when i try the same on it.

Thanks,

Andrew
