New Combination Switch. Confused.

Just installed a new old combination switch, and because I had my headlights jury rigged through an external switch until I got the opportunity to install this switch, I fear I have forgotten the proper connections. So, here are the colors and gender of the lines I'm trying to figure out. This is on my 1970 HLS, so only those with series I cars have the same type switch.Coming off the light/wiper side of the switch are five individual wires, four of which are bullet type disconnects, which has led to the confusion. The other one is a spade type quick disconnect, black in color and that hooks up obviously to the only spade connector in the dash wire loom. A blue and white male bullet hooks up with the blue and white female in the receiving connectors. That leaves me with a red female, white and red male, and a black female wire to hook up. I haven't got that many receivers . something is very weird here. Any insight, ideas would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I don't know. This pic was taken over a year ago, and the parts are in one or more boxes right now. Also, I never got to actually drive the car, except from the PO's house to mine. So, if I had to guess, I'd say an ignition buzzer maybe?

Sorry I can't be more help on that one. I took the pics so I could have a reference when it's time to put it all back together. Hopefully it will be enough :).

Thanks, Mark

Still don't have the headlights working through the normal combo switch, so have had to revert to my jury rigged 40Amp Aircraft Type breaker. Sure would like to get it working the way it's supposed to, but I know this is just one more bump in the road. I keep finding wiring problems and am trying to keep from creating more.

I suspect the turn signal is similar but I don't know since mine works fine. I did attempt to take apart the wiper side of the combination switch but it's a lot trickier. There's a tiny ball bearing and a small contact plate that are hard to reassemble.

Even though this discussion has evolved into a discourse of the switches and how to solve problems with them; I'm still convinced that the problem lies not in my combination switch, but the wiring from the switch to the interconnecting receptacles in the under dash wiring,

It may be different on your model but on mine the thick wires that connect to the headlight switch are red and white/red. One of them has a male connector and the other female so it's possible to simply unplug them from the switch and connect them together. If this turns on your headlights then your switch is bad. If not, as you say, the problem is elsewhere.
